Gorgeous planting combinations ready to sow now
The March selection features a striking mix for borders or containers that will build on the previous boxes beautifully, but also works perfectly as a one-off. Along with a carefully chosen cucumber variety ready to get started for summer picking.
On-trend bee-friendly quartet for stunning summer borders or containers and brilliant for cutting for the vase
Now is the time to start potting up dahlia tubers and Dahlia ‘Bishop of Dover’ provides a focal point with dark foliage and flowers that fade from white to soft pink. Around it, a cool-coloured seed mix brings texture and rhythm that threads effortlessly through your planting.
This is a forgiving, high impact mix that thrives in sunshine, copes well with a range of soils, and rewards even modest care with months of colour. Whether you’re creating a border display, refreshing containers or building on earlier Willowherb boxes, these varieties perform beautifully together.
Dahlia ‘Bishop of Dover’ (tuber)
A modern classic with single, open flowers adored by bees. The white to pink blooms glow against deep purple foliage, giving instant structure and contrast. Pot up now in a bright, frost free spot and plant out once the weather warms. It’s superb in borders, generous in containers, and a standout for cutting.
Scabious (seeds)
Soft, pin cushion flowers held on slender, dancing stems. Scabious brings gentle movement and a meadow like feel, weaving beautifully around the dahlias. Sow now under cover or in a sheltered spot; you can also direct sow later for a second flush. Excellent for pollinators and a delight in arrangements.
Nigella (seeds)
Love-in-a-Mist is one of the easiest, most rewarding annuals you can grow. Its filigree foliage and floating, jewel toned flowers add lightness and charm, while the decorative seedpods extend its season. Sow now under cover or direct once the soil warms. It self seeds and will come back in future years.
Orlaya grandiflora (seeds)
A refined, lacy white umbel that lifts and softens everything around it. Orlaya is exceptional for adding brightness and structure, pairing beautifully with both bold and delicate companions. Sow now under cover or in a sheltered spot. A favourite for wildlife and for cutting, with elegant stems that elevate any bouquet.
A crisp, reliable cucumber for early sowing
Cucumber ‘Diamant’ F1
A compact, high performing mini cucumber with a long harvest period because of its very good health. They are a totally female variety (no tricky removal of male flowers) with a double resistance against Powdery and Downy Mildew. They do look like 'old-fashioned' cucumbers - a bit knobbly - and sometimes get classed as pickling cucumbers but they are absolutely delicious with a crisp texture and excellent flavour. They have no bitterness. Sow now under cover into modules or small pots, and plant out once the weather settles. Perfect for snacking, salads and summer lunches.
